There's a lot of advice out there about what products you "need" as a pregnant woman, most of these coming from companies who want to sell you their product, or from people who have more money than you. And if you're a first time Mum, you're going to be especially susceptible to these ads.
The truth is you don't "need" everything on this list, so remember that as you're moving through it. What I've listed are the products that I have thoroughly enjoyed or wish I'd bought sooner... and this is just what works for me! Use your own intuition (i.e. what is your body telling you it needs) and a little discernment before making a bunch of purchases.
Let's get to it!
1. Belly Band - FB Marketplace
Who is it for?
Women in their third trimester OR women who move around a lot and/or experience some lower back and hip discomfort.
Mine is a Belly Bands AU branded 3 in 1 belly band that I had recommended to me. I went on their website to purchase it (RRP $100) and was told that I was in-between sizes. They funnily enough don't do refunds on Belly Bands, SO I took to FB Marketplace and after a few weeks I found one for $20!!!
A belly band is great for supporting the weight of the baby to relieve pressure on your pelvis, lower back and hips. This particular belly band is also recommended for postnatal use when your body is stitching itself back together again.
1. Maternity Underwear - Kmart $12 for 3
Who is it for?
All pregnant women!
I didn't think I'd need these and wish I had bought them a bit sooner. Unfortunately I stretched out all of my old underwear by trying to wear them throughout my second trimester, which means they most likely will not fit me after birth!
These undies have a V shape overlap of material that allows for your belly to grow without stretching the underwear too much They are also made of bamboo so they are silky smooth, stretch well AND are breathable which is great for feminine hygiene.

3. Pregnancy Pillows - Marketplace
Who is it for?
Mostly second and definitely third trimester.
I purchased a Butterfly Pillow (RRP $130) and two covers from FB Marketplace for $40. I also use a spare regular pillow and place it between my legs to support my hips, as I was getting hip pain.
The butterfly-type pillow is great because not only does it support your growing belly, it prevents you from rolling flat onto your back.
4. Exercise Ball - Big W, $10
Who is it for?
Mostly women in their third trimester.
I use this ball daily to stretch out my hips and lower back when they feel tight and achey, as well as keeping them mobile. An exercise ball is also great to use when you're in labour!
5. Massage Seat - Kmart $39 or FB Marketplace
Who is it for?
Any human being (there are weight requirements so be sure to read the specifications).
I sit in my massage chair daily, which my husband gave to me as a christmas present a few years back and was a FB Marketplace steal. You can also get a Massage Seat Cover which does the same thing AND is portable, so you can be getting a massage while you're driving, working or watching TV. Not only is it soothing for the body but it helps relax my mind too.
Kmart sells the portable Massage Seats for $39, however I'm sure if you're patient and have a look on FB Marketplace, you'll find some there too!
You don't have to spend a lot to have what you need
As I said in my TikTok series, I hope this helps you realise that you don't need everything those ads (or people) tell you you need AND that you don't have to cutout a kidney to afford being pregnant.
Have patience. Keep calm. Trust your instincts over your mind.
